Chinchilla Small Business Supplies Wool Felt for Upcoming Netflix Film The Mosquito Bowl
There are some moments in small business that make you stop, blink twice, and say, “Hang on, did that really just happen?”
For My Felt Lady, one of those moments has arrived.
My Felt Lady, a small wool felt business based in Chinchilla, Queensland, has proudly supplied wool felt product for the upcoming Netflix film The Mosquito Bowl, due to release on Netflix in 2026.
Yes. You read that correctly.
From our little felt studio here in country Queensland, surrounded by colour charts, cutting mats, wool felt sheets, packing benches and the occasional cup of tea gone cold, our wool felt has made its way into a major international film production.
And honestly, that feels pretty special.
A little Chinchilla business with a big colourful heart
My Felt Lady has always been built on a very simple love: beautiful, high quality wool felt.
For more than a decade, we have supplied makers, crafters, designers, teachers, stitchers, artists and small creative businesses with wool felt in colours that make projects come alive. What started as a love for felt has grown into one of Australia’s most recognised wool felt stores, all run from our home studio in Chinchilla.
We are not a big warehouse in a capital city. We are not a faceless corporation.
We are a small country business, cutting, packing and sending wool felt with care, one order at a time.
So to know that our product has been chosen for a Netflix film production is one of those pinch-me moments that reminds us just how far good materials, consistency and care can travel.
About The Mosquito Bowl
The Mosquito Bowl is an upcoming Netflix World War II drama directed by Peter Berg and based on the nonfiction book The Mosquito Bowl: A Game of Life and Death in World War II by Buzz Bissinger.
The film tells the true story of four American college football stars who enlisted in the Marines after the attack on Pearl Harbor. As they prepared for the invasion of Okinawa, they took part in a legendary football game that would become known as the Mosquito Bowl.
The Netflix production was filmed in Queensland, making this connection even more meaningful for us as a Queensland-based business.
From the cutting table to the screen
Supplying wool felt for creative projects is what we do every day, but there is something incredibly exciting about knowing our felt may play even a small part in the visual world of a film.
Film productions rely on detail. Texture, colour, quality and material choice all matter. Whether something appears front and centre or quietly helps bring a scene together, every piece contributes to the story being told.
That is what wool felt does so beautifully.
It has warmth. It has texture. It holds colour in a way that feels rich and timeless. It can be practical, decorative, historical, playful, serious, soft, structured and everything in between.
For us, that has always been the magic of felt.
A proud moment for regional small business
This is not just a proud moment for My Felt Lady. It is a proud little moment for Chinchilla too.
Regional businesses are often underestimated. People can assume that big opportunities only happen in big cities, but this is proof that beautiful products, strong relationships and good service can reach much further than the postcode they are packed in.
Our wool felt has been sent to makers all over Australia and around the world, but knowing it has now been supplied for a Netflix film is something we will be smiling about for a very long time.
Thank you to our lovely customers
None of this happens without the beautiful community that has supported My Felt Lady over the years.
Every order, every kind email, every project shared, every customer who has trusted us with their colours and creative plans has helped build this little business into what it is today.
So this moment belongs to all of us, really.
From the makers stitching at their kitchen tables, to the teachers preparing classroom projects, to the designers creating heirloom pieces, to the customers who simply love opening a parcel full of colour, you have all helped make My Felt Lady what it is.
And now, somehow, our wool felt has found its way to Netflix.
Not bad for a little felt lady from Chinchilla.
Yours Feltfully,
Candice
